Abnormal Cervical Smears and Colposcopy Auckland
Oct. 17, 2013
Colposcopy is the test that is done using a microscope to try and diagnose the exact problem when a woman's cervical smear is abnormal. It can be very scary and anxiety causing to be told that your smear is abnormal. I explain without jargon what the problem is and how it will be managed. It is rare to find that an abnormal smear is due to cancer but it does need to be excluded. Sometimes another problem called CIN is confirmed which then needs treatment to prevent cancer from ever developing. Please click here for a brochure from the Cervical Screening Programme.
