Pelvic Tissue Prolapse (Something Coming Down)

One of the symptoms of this is the feeling of 'something coming down' or indeed a laxity in the vagina.

Childbirth is mostly the main cause and women often put up with the problems that prolapse causes for many years. Many patients report difficulty emptying their bowels effectively when they defecate and others have co-existing urinary difficulties including incontinence. Many women also have difficulty with intercourse or the protrusion of a lump from the vagina, especially at the end of the day or when exercising.

A thorough assessment will lead to effective therapies being offered and this will include physiotherapy and / or surgery. The pros and cons of surgery will be discussed in detail and of course your views will be paramount. Sometimes, bowel symptoms will need thorough assessment by a doctor specialising in bowel problems and tests and / or a referral will be arranged.

  • Anil is a very kind-hearted person, who is attentive, listens, and genuinely cares about you as a patient. He works hard to acknowledge and understand your perspective around other aspects of your life, in order to determine an appropriate plan forward for medical care and recovery. I'm really grateful to have had Anil on my team. Thanks so much!

  • I cannot thank Dr Sharma and Anne enough for their kind, compassionate and life-saving care. Anne went out of her way to find me an appointment when I was in a bind. Dr Sharma was amazing from the get-go, listened to my concerns, thoroughly explained my situation and immediately provided me with top notch medical care. I will forever be grateful.

  • I have really enjoyed every meeting with Dr Anil Sharma. He is so charismatic. Such a nice feeling to know your problems are being handled in such a professional way. He is very caring, really funny, sympathetic, interesting and also interested in what you have to say. I am so lucky to have him alongside me when I have any gynecology problems. Right from the time you enter his rooms, at reception you are taken great care of by Anne - his lovely receptionist - and then usually very little wait time, you are then safe and secure in the knowledge you are getting the best care and attention you could possibly ask for.

  • Dr Anil Sharma and Ann are an amazing team! (apologies for writing this post late - was meant to write this 7 months ago after my surgery!)

I received the best care and was very impressed with Dr Anil's professionalism and attitude. It makes a huge difference when someone like him believes you have endometriosis when other doctors don't. Because of his mannerisms and extensive knowledge, he has inspired me to learn more about women's health and take my education to a much higher level. Big massive thank you! God bless xx
