Urinary Incontinence

This is often a consequence of childbirth and menopause and millions of women worldwide continue to put up with it as a 'woman's lot'.

There is no need to do this since highly effective options exist for alleviating the stress, embarrassment and hygiene issues that these problems cause. These treatments include physiotherapy, tablets, devices and operations.

New surgical techniques using minimally invasive slings have revolutionised the treatment with cure rates around 90%. Sometimes (for patients with urinary incontinence), detailed tests called urodynamics are organised which help to diagnose the exact problem.

This aids in planning the most effective treatment with the least side-effects. Anil has his own state of the art urodynamics facility with a highly trained and empathic nurse in attendance. Referral to expert pelvic floor physiotherapists is also worthwhile and in some cases can alleviate the need for surgery.

    Dr Anil Sharma is incredible, and he is a wonderful surgeon. I really appreciate how he took his time to explain about advanced endometriosis and the treatment options. With his wealth of Knowledge and information, I immediately felt at ease – and felt assured in my receiving expert medical care from him. In addition, Anne his nurse is always very helpful and an email away. I had such a fear about going through this whole procedure as I have heard of many positive and negative feedback from others. Even, through my own experience I went to Dr Shrama for second opinion as my first surgeon delayed my surgery and she recommended that I take zoladex injection in the interim. I felt that it was a blessing in disguise that my surgery was postponed by my first surgeon or else I would have never found Dr Shrama. He discussed my condition with another specialist- Dr Rishi Ram who was amazing as well. Dr Sharma and Anne directed me right from pre-surgery, to recovery either at the hospital or at home.     Do you go off your gut feeling? I do, and I had to push my way through the health system to get answers and failed along the way. Until I met Dr. Sharma and all my issues made sense. A very clear, focused, caring Doctor/ Surgeon that listens and explains very clearly on what is the best outcome is for your health issue. I had a hysterectomy, I'm 50 and without his skill and experience I would have never recovered from my surgery so quickly. From pre-surgery, recovery, home recovery to complete recovery I was guided by Dr. Sharma and his nurse to allow for the best result possible from a surgery that I feared would change my life forever. Well it did and for the better! I'm 6 weeks post surgery back to my active life, feeling well and happy. I have much to be grateful for and so will you. Oh, and even though scars are part of your life story you may be concerned of those, Dr. Sharma considers those too and they are tiny! I know and have seen other post surgery clients who used someone else and the scars are very different to mine, much worse.
